The house
Bortnikoff is a perfume house founded in 2018 in Thailand by Dmitry Bortnikoff, an architect by training and a perfumer by calling. In 2013, he co-founded Feel-Oud, a distillery specializing in some of the finest oud and sandalwood oils in the world. Many of the oils in his fragrances are distilled by the house itself, using 19th-century techniques. Each composition contains 95 to 100% natural ingredients. The range is divided into several collections: Main, Ouds, Elixir, Cologne and Entry Level.

Chypre du Nord is a Bortnikoff Extrait de Parfum from the fruity chypre family. It opens with bergamot and orange, reveals a heart of peach and nutmeg, then rests on a base of oakmoss, benzoin, musk, cedar, birch tar and tonka bean. It takes up the structure of the early 20th-century French chypre with rare, natural materials. An elegant unisex fragrance to wear all year round.
It is part of Bortnikoff's main collection, like Zemfira and Siberia. Siberia shares its oakmoss and benzoin, in a woodier register built around musk and oud. The entire house follows the same high standards: 95 to 100% natural ingredients and oils partly distilled by Bortnikoff.
Yes, the house presents it as a unisex creation, to be worn in every season and on every occasion.
Expect 10 to 12 hours on the skin, thanks to the extrait concentration and a base of oakmoss and resins.
A style born in France in the early 20th century, built on the contrast between citrus at the top and oakmoss in the base. Chypre du Nord keeps this structure and adds peach, nutmeg and birch tar.
50 / 2 ml, Fruity Chypre
by Bortnikoff
Chypre du Nord revisits one of the great traditions of European perfumery and gives it a modern signature. The chypre was born in France in the early 20th century; Dmitry Bortnikoff adds his own touch. The fragrance keeps the structure of the genre, citrus at the top and oakmoss in the base, enriching it with rare materials.
Peach and nutmeg compose a soft, spicy heart, before a base where the essential unfolds. Oakmoss lays down a timeless architecture, benzoin, tonka bean and birch tar a resinous depth, and musk a sensuality with animalic accents. The extrait concentration ensures a slow, luxurious evolution. The house presents it as a unisex fragrance, to be worn in every season and on every occasion.
A bright, fruity opening, in the chypre tradition.
Peach brings its velvety softness, nutmeg a hint of spice that keeps it from becoming sweet.
Oakmoss provides the structure; benzoin, tonka bean and birch tar bring warmth and resinous depth. A refined musk leaves a lasting animalic nuance.
The chypre has not aged; it was waiting for someone to take it in hand again.
For lovers of classic chypres, and for those who want to discover the style through a version rich in natural materials. The house recommends it for all seasons; it comes into its own in spring and fall, by day as well as in the evening. Two or three sprays on the skin or on a scarf: oakmoss holds up very well on fabric.
Dmitry Bortnikoff is an architect by training. He turned to distillation: in 2013, he co-founded Feel-Oud, a company that distills oud and sandalwood oils, for which he also signs several perfumes. In 2018, he founded his own house, Bortnikoff, in Thailand. Much of the oil he uses is distilled there on site, following 19th-century methods, and his compositions contain 95 to 100% natural ingredients.
He distills some materials himself, including a wild oud from Sri Lanka that he also uses as a tincture. He composes most of his perfumes alone. He co-signed a few with Rajesh Balkrishnan, then a collection with Christian Carbonnel. His son Maxim trained alongside him.
