The house
Bortnikoff is a perfume house founded in 2018 in Thailand by Dmitry Bortnikoff, an architect by training and a perfumer by calling. In 2013, he co-founded Feel-Oud, a distillery specializing in some of the finest oud and sandalwood oils in the world. Many of the oils in his fragrances are distilled by the house itself, using 19th-century techniques. Each composition contains 95 to 100% natural ingredients. The range is divided into several collections: Main, Ouds, Elixir, Cologne and Entry Level.

Oud Monarch is a woody oriental Extrait de Parfum by Bortnikoff, built on two ouds: a Merauke oud and a Co Chang oud distilled by Feel-Oud. Magnolia and frangipani open it, while Rose de Mai, Himalayan rose, cinnamon and tobacco form its heart. The base combines cocoa, civet, castoreum, labdanum and vanilla. A rich, floral oud with exceptional longevity.
Oud Monarch belongs to Bortnikoff's Ouds collection, alongside Oud Al Sultan and Lao Oud. In 2013, Dmitry Bortnikoff co-founded Feel-Oud, which distills some of the finest oud oils in the world, before launching his perfume house in Thailand in 2018. Oud Monarch is one of the fragrances where this link to the distillery is most direct.
Yes. The roses and frangipani soften the oud, and Bortnikoff does not intend it for any particular gender.
It is an oud-based Extrait de Parfum: it lasts well beyond 12 hours on the skin and even longer on clothing.

Oud Monarch is dedicated to a majestic oud, the kind once reserved for royal courts and the rituals of nobility. In the East, oud oil was revered for its scent but also for its spiritual and calming virtues; palaces were steeped in it and sovereigns anointed themselves with it. Bortnikoff takes up this story with two ouds, including a Co Chang oud from Feel-Oud, the distillery co-founded by Dmitry Bortnikoff.
Rather than letting the oud speak alone, the composition surrounds it with delicate flowers and rare spices. Frangipani, magnolia and roses soften its natural intensity, while cinnamon and tobacco warm it. The base of cocoa, vanilla, labdanum and leather gives it an opulent finish. The house describes it as an expression of power, sensuality and royal serenity.
A rare oud appears right away, wrapped in the softness of frangipani and magnolia. The flowers highlight its noble character rather than masking it.
Rose de Mai and Himalayan rose catch fire on contact with cinnamon and tobacco. The heart grows warmer and richer.
Merauke oud and Feel-Oud's Co Chang oud resonate deep down. Cocoa, vanilla, labdanum and a leather accord give it texture and opulence.
True power has no need to raise its voice; it leaves a mark on the room.
Oud Monarch is for oud lovers who want its depth without its harshness, and for those who love rich bases where cocoa and vanilla answer animalic notes. It is a fall and winter fragrance, for evenings and special occasions. One or two sprays are enough: on the skin at the base of the neck, or on a wool coat, where the oud will linger for days.
Dmitry Bortnikoff is an architect by training. He turned to distillation: in 2013, he co-founded Feel-Oud, a company that distills oud and sandalwood oils, for which he also signs several perfumes. In 2018, he founded his own house, Bortnikoff, in Thailand. Much of the oil he uses is distilled there on site, following 19th-century methods, and his compositions contain 95 to 100% natural ingredients.
He distills some materials himself, including a wild oud from Sri Lanka that he also uses as a tincture. He composes most of his perfumes alone. He co-signed a few with Rajesh Balkrishnan, then a collection with Christian Carbonnel. His son Maxim trained alongside him.
