Pernoire est une maison de parfumerie de niche suisse, fondée en 2020 par Robin Dünner et Nico Mannino, deux amis d'enfance. Nico Mannino dirige la stratégie et les ventes, Robin Dünner la marque et la création. Andreas Wilhelm, parfumeur suisse et partenaire de la maison depuis ses débuts, signe l'intégralité des compositions. Tout est développé et produit en Suisse. Les quatorze parfums sont des extraits bâtis sur des essences naturelles rares, concentrés à 25 % pour la collection Anima, du latin anima, l'âme, et à 30 % pour la collection Odus, contraction des mots latins odor et intensus. La maison annonce une tenue supérieure à douze heures et un sillage large. En 2023, Mansa a été finaliste des Art and Olfaction Awards, dans le top 10 de plus de mille soumissions jugées à l'aveugle. Hors de Suisse, la marque est distribuée par quelques parfumeries de niche, dont Osswald à Zurich et Les Senteurs à Londres.

Poka de Pernoire, élixir de gourmandise

Poka contracte popcorn et caramel. La maison voulait composer le dessert absolu sans se demander si c'était raisonnable. L'ouverture est littérale : popcorn caramélisé, tarte aux pommes, cannelle. La noisette torréfiée et l'abricot sec donnent du grain, le labdanum empêche l'ensemble de rester plat. La vanille, la fève tonka et le musc referment sur un fond doux que seul le cèdre vient assécher.

Poka contracte popcorn et caramel. C'est le gourmand le plus littéral de Pernoire, à l'opposé d'Otimo. Extrait de parfum à 30 %, 50 ml, collection Odus, portable en toutes saisons mais surtout en automne et en hiver. Il voisine avec Italica de Casamorati, Tobacco Vanille de Tom Ford et Jany de Sora Dora.

Poka sent-il vraiment le popcorn ?

Oui, franchement, et c'est ce qu'on vient y chercher. L'accord de popcorn et de caramel est la note de tête et reste perceptible pendant la première heure.

Poka est-il portable au quotidien ?

En automne et en hiver, oui, y compris en journée. Sa projection est bonne sans être envahissante, à condition de rester à une ou deux pulvérisations.

Poka convient-il à quelqu'un qui n'aime pas les parfums sucrés ?

Non, et il ne cherche pas à l'être. Pour un gourmand plus sec, Otimo et son tabac praliné cassé par le cèdre sont le bon choix.

The spirit of the perfume

Poka blends popcorn and caramel. The house wanted to compose the ultimate dessert without asking whether that was reasonable, and it stuck to the plan. The fragrance is literal from start to finish.

It is Pernoire's most direct gourmand, the opposite of Otimo, which spends its time breaking up the sugar. Those who find gourmands too well-behaved will have no such complaint here.

The olfactory journey

Opening: popcorn

Caramel popcorn and apple pie open plainly, with no transition. Cinnamon heightens the warm pastry side. The opening is literal, and that is exactly what you come here for.

Heart: roasted hazelnut

Roasted hazelnut and dried apricot add texture and take away a little sugar. Labdanum brings the resin that keeps the whole from staying flat. The heart remains very close to the opening; the fragrance does not evolve much.

Base and sillage: vanilla and cedar

Vanilla, tonka bean and musk close on a soft, enveloping base. Cedar adds the only dry note. The trail is clear and can be smelled from afar, which is no flaw given the intent.

Who is it for?

For lovers of frank, sweet gourmands who like being asked what they are wearing. Poka belongs neither at the office nor at the dinner table.

Wear from October to March, day or evening. One spray is more than enough, as the 30% extrait makes the fragrance very present.

Composed by Andreas Wilhelm

Andreas Wilhelm is a perfumer based in Zurich. He wanted to become a goldsmith, but with no apprenticeships available, a guidance counselor steered him towards an apprenticeship as a chemistry lab technician at Givaudan in Dübendorf, in 1993. He then trained as a perfumer at Luzi from 1999. He opened his own studio in 2008 and has also been the in-house perfumer at Weleda.

In 2017, he launched his label PERFUME.SUCKS, which prints the full list of ingredients on every bottle. He says he starts by writing a formula on the computer, then adjusts it through trials. With his clients, he compares himself to the car, with the client at the wheel. He received an Art and Olfaction Award in 2023.
