The Print House by Tada Parfumeur: ink, paper and leather

An ink accord and coffee absolute open The Print House alongside carrot seed oil and saffron. Paper and metallic notes continue the workshop theme. Incense and iris shape the heart, while cashmeran, patchouli, musk, leather and oakmoss form the base.

The Print House was created in collaboration with Spacebar Zine, an independent fanzine workshop. It translates the materials of a print shop into a woody, leathery fragrance. Coffee appears in the context of ink and paper rather than as a sweet dessert theme.

The spirit of the perfume

The perfume was born from a collaboration with Spacebar Zine, an independent fanzine workshop. Each bottle carries a small zine attached to the front, telling the story of how an issue is made.

What you smell when you push open the iron door of an analog print shop: machines running, fresh ink, chemical undertones, and the cup of coffee set down beside the press.

The olfactory journey

Opening: ink and coffee

What comes first is the ink: a chemical, slightly sharp note, held up by saffron. The coffee absolute warms it and instantly makes it human.

Heart: paper and metal

The paper accord brings the dry, dusty feel of stacked reams, the metallic note the coolness of the machines. Incense and iris open up the space.

Base and sillage: leather and moss

Leather, patchouli and oakmoss close on something classic and well worn. Cashmeran softens, musk ties everything together.

Composed by Tada Archawong

Tada Archawong is a self-taught Thai perfumer. He first worked as a director of photography. He launched his first brand, Natural Teller, after a year and a half of learning on his own. Today he runs two houses for which he signs the formulas, Tada Parfumeur and Shaman Perfumery. Along with his friend Prin Lomros, he is one of Thailand's first independent perfumers.

He composes from images. On his travels, often to Japan, he notes his ideas in a notebook, then looks for the materials that can render the scene he has in mind. He devoted a series of perfumes to Dante's Divine Comedy, built around Thai ouds. He has also worked with the sake house Emishiki on a sake accord.
