Pernoire est une maison de parfumerie de niche suisse, fondée en 2020 par Robin Dünner et Nico Mannino, deux amis d'enfance. Nico Mannino dirige la stratégie et les ventes, Robin Dünner la marque et la création. Andreas Wilhelm, parfumeur suisse et partenaire de la maison depuis ses débuts, signe l'intégralité des compositions. Tout est développé et produit en Suisse. Les quatorze parfums sont des extraits bâtis sur des essences naturelles rares, concentrés à 25 % pour la collection Anima, du latin anima, l'âme, et à 30 % pour la collection Odus, contraction des mots latins odor et intensus. La maison annonce une tenue supérieure à douze heures et un sillage large. En 2023, Mansa a été finaliste des Art and Olfaction Awards, dans le top 10 de plus de mille soumissions jugées à l'aveugle. Hors de Suisse, la marque est distribuée par quelques parfumeries de niche, dont Osswald à Zurich et Les Senteurs à Londres.

Otimo de Pernoire, élixir de fierté

Le coing et le rhum ouvrent liquoreux, puis la cardamome les sèche avant que l'ensemble ne tourne au dessert. Le praliné se pose sur le tabac, tenu par le patchouli et la fève tonka. Le cèdre et l'osmanthus referment sur un boisé plus sec que ne le laissait attendre le cœur. Otimo est un gourmand que le boisé rattrape à chaque étape.

Le phénix du flacon renvoie à la renaissance et à l'exigence. Extrait de parfum à 25 %, 50 ml, composé par Andreas Wilhelm en Suisse. La maison le range en automne et en hiver et le décrit comme portable par tous. Frequently asked questions

Otimo est-il très sucré ?

Moins qu'il n'y paraît. La cardamome à l'ouverture et le cèdre au fond cassent le sucre à chaque étape, et le praliné reste une note parmi d'autres.

Otimo se porte-t-il en journée ?

Oui. Sa projection reste modérée, ce qui le rend portable au bureau en automne et en hiver, contrairement à Masar ou Oudian.

Quelle différence entre Otimo et Poka ?

Otimo est un gourmand boisé qui s'assèche. Poka est un gourmand franc bâti sur le popcorn caramélisé. Ce sont les deux extrêmes de la maison sur ce registre.

The spirit of the perfume

The phoenix on the bottle rises again prouder than before. Otimo expresses high standards, the bar you refuse to lower after a failure. The house has made it its most restrained gourmand.

Cedar and cardamom break up the sugar at every stage of the fragrance. That is what makes it wearable by people who usually steer clear of gourmands: the praline is definitely there, but it is never left alone long enough to become cloying.

The olfactory journey

Opening: boozy fruit

Quince and rum open liqueur-like, with the slightly tart sweetness of cooked fruit. Cardamom dries the whole out before it turns into dessert. The opening already reveals the fragrance's method.

Heart: tobacco and praline

The praline settles on the tobacco leaf and takes on its toasted side. Patchouli and tonka bean hold everything together and give it density. The heart is rich but stays dry, and this is where most of Andreas Wilhelm's work lies.

Base and sillage: cedar and vanilla

Cedar opens the base and asserts the woody character, while vanilla and osmanthus soften it without sweetening it. The result is drier than the heart would suggest. The sillage lasts the day while staying within a reasonable radius.

Who is it for?

For lovers of tobacco and praline who dread too much sugar. Otimo is the exact opposite of Poka, which embraces dessert without reservation. It is also the most versatile of the house's gourmands.

Wear from October to March, day or evening. Two sprays last a full working day without bothering anyone.

Composed by Andreas Wilhelm

Andreas Wilhelm is a perfumer based in Zurich. He wanted to become a goldsmith, but with no apprenticeships available, a guidance counselor steered him towards an apprenticeship as a chemistry lab technician at Givaudan in Dübendorf, in 1993. He then trained as a perfumer at Luzi from 1999. He opened his own studio in 2008 and has also been the in-house perfumer at Weleda.

In 2017, he launched his label PERFUME.SUCKS, which prints the full list of ingredients on every bottle. He says he starts by writing a formula on the computer, then adjusts it through trials. With his clients, he compares himself to the car, with the client at the wheel. He received an Art and Olfaction Award in 2023.
