The house
Adi ale Van
Adi ale Van is a house of olfactory art founded in 2021 in Romania by the artist of the same name. Everything is handmade, in limited editions: the bottle, the stopper, the decoration and the box are painted and assembled one by one, so that no piece can ever be reproduced identically. The extraits range from 22% to 40% concentration and macerate for 4 to 30 months before bottling. The compositions are signed by Jimmy Bodin, Giovanni Festa, Anne-Sophie Behaghel, Antonio Alessandria, Camille Chemardin, Michele Marin, Flavius Calaj and David-Lev Jipa-Slivinschi. The inspiration comes from Romanian rural traditions, family memory and a folklore the house helps to preserve.

The setting rather than the hero
Here Adi ale Van composes as an artist more than as a perfumer: the notes bear the names of objects (wanted poster, old newspaper, coffin wood, ink). At 40% extrait, the result is an entire scene, dry and dusty, closer to an installation than to a fragrance of seduction.
The olfactory journey
Opening: iron
The opening is frankly metallic and cold, with that blood accord lending its taste of copper. Nothing comfortable about it: that is the point.
Heart: the saloon
Aged spirit, cheap cigarette and a paper accord compose a brown, smoky heart, like a room where too much was smoked the night before.
Base: ink and wood
Coffin wood, oud, old newspaper and ink close on a very dry, dusty, resinous base of impressive persistence.
