Morpheus by Aaron Terence Hughes opens with an impression that strongly reminds me of a cool, shaded forest – yet threaded with an almost medicinal, slightly sterile note that can feel somewhat overwhelming in enclosed spaces during the first hour. The projection at the beginning is quite strong and assertive, almost insistent.
As the fragrance develops, however, this sharpness gradually softens and the scent becomes noticeably smoother, rounder, and more elegant. A warm amber depth begins to emerge, accompanied by a gentle resinous woodiness that grows increasingly balanced. In my perception, the fragrance truly reaches its peak in the drydown: here it becomes calm, composed, and very pleasant to wear – almost close to the skin, yet with remarkable presence.
On clothing, Morpheus remains softly and pleasantly noticeable even the next day, which clearly reflects the high concentration and quality of the extrait. Overall, to me this is a fragrance that demands patience, but rewards it with a very elegant, warm, and characterful base.
In my opinion, Midnight Fever is a slightly sweet and aromatic fragrance with a subtly smoky and deep drydown, which somehow reminds me of night air over a bridge with dark water; from afar, you can smell the sweet and smoky nightlife of a city.
